Before we begin to look towards Sports Day and the range of records just waiting to be broken, we should take a few moments to celebrate the success of the “Stowupland Stars” competition. Twenty one students ranging from Year 7 through to Year 10 took to the stage at the end of June and performed for a panel of judges.
There were solo vocal performers, duets and group dances taking part in the competition and the school’s fusion group performed two pieces to entertain the audience. The judges were: Ms Clubb (Subject Leader for Music); Ms Dixie (Subject Leader for Drama) and Mr Holden (Progress Leader for Year 7). All three judges were, quite rightly, extremely complimentary and constructive in their feedback and the rumour that Mr Holden was Simon Cowell in disguise proved to be completely unfounded!
The highest marks of the evening were awarded to: Lily Ruscoe and Alisha Chittock (Year 7) and to Rosie The and Melodie Fiske (Year 9); these two acts then performed again for the audience vote. Alisha and Lily were awarded first place, but all participants deserve congratulations on producing a thoroughly entertaining evening. Many thanks also to Miss Buckley, Mrs Brand and Mr Edgar for organising the event, along with the student helpers.
A busy week lies ahead with Sports Day on the 4th July and also the Art and Design Exhibition which opens at 5.00pm on the same day. Please do try and come along to see the wonderful creations from both GCSE and A Level students.
And finally, the public examination season is officially over! This means that, with effect from Monday 3rd July, we will revert to normal timings and breaktime will follow period 1 at 10.15am.
